Description: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University has two faculty they want to honor their achievements. The department's communication team wanted to achieve this by creating a mailer sent to fellow faculty, staff, and alumni.
The problem: The mailer needed to be 12in by 5in. On this mailer, the front had to contain both the faculty, their names, and their awards. As for the back, it needs to have room for the mailing address, and a message from the department chair with his signature. The mailer needed to have some way of standing out, so it isn't just thrown in the trash right away.
The solution: The two faculty members didn't have any photos together, I found two separate photos of them, and had it look as if they were leaning against a wall; back to back. I chose to add depth into the front of the design to give it a more 3d look to help it stand out more. I also used a lot of the ISU red color to bring that ISU energy into the mailer. Trying to get alumni's attention to the mailer and recognizing possible professors they could have had. For the back, I left the correct amount of white space for ISU printing services to print addresses onto. There was enough room to have the chair's message and his signature.
